I needed a cable to connect a USB3 external HD to a new MacBook, USB-C. Searching Amazon, I found this Kanex cable, clearly marked USB-C to Micro-USB3.When I used it to connect the USB3 enclosure to my MacBook, it just worked. Flawlessly. The enclosure currently has a 5400rpm platter drive, so there wasn't any use in doing any GeekBench testing. The volume showed up on the desktop and data moved back and forth as you would expect with no problems.At 1.2m/4' it's longer than I wanted for my particular use. I was hoping to find something between .5m and 1m. The cable is a little on the stout side (4.5mm) and and a little stiff, so lightweight SSDs and enclosures will be moved around by it like a Microsoft mouse. Metal enclosures with a platter drive are no problem, as well as any 3.5" enclosure.As with my other USB-C cables and a USB-C to USB2 adapter, there's one last fraction of an inch you need to push to get a little 'click' at the USB-C end. Without that last bit, the cable won't be seated and you'll get no power, no mounting, and no data.5 stars for a cable might seem a little much, but this is a great cable, well made, and in fashionable white so it looks good too. If you order this, make sure you need to connect a USB3 device to a USB-C machine, because that's what this cable is designed to do. If Kanex made a shorter version, I'd get that as well.I received no discount, compensation, or consideration for my objective and accurate review.
